c'est l'halloween

Monday, October 31, 2005

So I'm all moved into my new house. That was one exhausting weekend. Good news is we got 100% of our security deposit back from the old place, $475. I did give the building owner back $15 because I took off 3 of those door-stopper-spring-things and couldn't find them.
I'm so dissapointed... I bought a LOT of candy from Safeway after work today, because I'd heard that they had it 50% off (which they did). I think we only got 4 or 5 kids at the house, how sad. So now I have tonnes of mini-chocolate bars in the porch.
I'll upload some pictures of my house when it's not stuffed with boxes, which it unfortunately still is. But I will upload a picture of my new wireless keyboard and mouse, because it's kickass. Yay for eBay.
The moving around is wreaking havoc on my allergies, I'm about fed up with sneezing.
Well I'll upload it fucking later, blogger doesn't seem to want to do shit tonight.

sitting in a mostly-empty apartment

Friday, October 28, 2005

So today my dad, Jennie, and her mom did some of the moving in advance of tomorrow's madness. We did about 8 or so loads in the van, plus a few in Jennie's mom's car. We moved the big furniture from my room, except for the bed so's I have a place to sleep tonight. Ugh there's still so much to do here, more packing yet and plenty enough of cleaning. Stupid accumulations of cat hair and other things I'd rather not think about. Not to mention the stove needs to be cleaned... at least it's not as bad as at the last place, yech.
The new house has all the appliances, though I think I'm going to purchase a dishwasher fairly shortly. I also need to buy a chesterfield. In the next year I'd like to replace all the appliances with more energy efficient ones though. The gas furnace isn't new, but it has a newer motor which is good. I'd still like to replace that with a more economical one, but they're like $5000. Manitoba Hydro does have a pretty decent finance program, but I'm already paying enough bills monthly just now. We'll see how things go. I get a bonus at the end of the year from work, so perhaps I could be a loser and put that towards a souped up new ultra-efficient furnace.
Anyways I've gotta go back to cleaning and then take a shower; I'm in no shape to be doing any sort of physical activity, much less moving.

more transit

Thursday, October 27, 2005

Today on the bus to my evening class at university there was a guy (seemingly nothing but gay) on his cell phone with what I presume was his significant other, and he was crying and wiping his eyes. Come on, put it on hold for a few minutes until you're off the bus. I can't abide hysterical women. I couldn't overhear anything by virtue of never removing my headphones while I'm on the bus.

transit/transat

Tuesday, October 25, 2005

So on the bus ride home today, there was this guy who was chatting up his seat neighbour, whom I don't think he knew. The point of the story is he was drinking a can of Luck Lager. Lucky Lager is the cheapest, grossest beer available.
All the local news crews were around my branch today to witness the mayor and the chief of police talking about the new youth gang initiative. I saw Citytv interviewing a buncha little kids. Typical, since Citytv is simply awful.
Anyways that's all for today.

apologies and the fourth dimension v.2.0

Saturday, October 22, 2005

Oh so the stupid previous post did post. It gave me some sort of lame java error, then posted anyways I suppose.
Anyways sorry about the lack of posts, and look at this if you like Star Wars, and this and this if you like fourth-dimensional stuff.
Thanks boingboing for the links.
Now I'm trying to post this edit and it won't, stupid useless blogger.

I'll try to update more regularly.

P.S. Alexis Mazurin died!

apologies and the fourth dimension

My apologies for not updating in ages. I've just not been feeling very postable. I haven't been up to much other than working. Nadien's been busy with school, which is all right cuz she's gotta gradjumate in spring.
Around here we've been slowly packing up the apartment into boxes, which have been piling up in the living room.
The cough is still lingering, but isn't so bad if I focus on not coughing. I suppose I really should go see a doctor, but I'm busy working during the day, and already taking 2 days off to deal with this whole home purchase thing. I go visit Mr. Lawyer on the 26th to sign off on everything, perhaps I can find some time after that to visit a walk-in clinic... though I really would rather go see my regular doctor, after feeling I was initially misdiagnosed by the walk-in clinic doctor.
Tonight Nadien has something planned for us, I'm curious.

absence

Monday, October 10, 2005

Sorry folks, about not posting on her at all as of late. I've been incapacitated on my futon due to what I was told was the flu, and strep throat. One week later, I finished the antibiotics I was prescribed two days ago, my adenoids are still swollen (though no longer painful), and I still have a hell of a cough from time to time. I don't believe that my doctor correctly diagnosed my chest infection, nor did he prescribe enough antibiotics. Last time I go to that walk in clinic. It made me miss my doctor in Oak Bank. If by the end of this week my throat still looks swollen (and this cough still hasn't gone), I'm going to go visit him.
It was one hell of an awful 4 days in the middle of this week, I was awful.
I ordered some pots and pans, as a present to myself for my new house and kitchen. I'll upload some pics of them from theshoppingchannel.com (where I bought them, yes... shut up) later.
Actually here is the picture:

fiery goodness

Saturday, October 01, 2005

I JUST came back from the Arcade Fire concert. What can I say? Best concert I've been to this year. They simply sound outstanding live, and put on one hell of a rock show. The venue was one of the more intimate ones, at The Walker (well, now the Burton Cummings Theatre, or just The Burt). I was stupid and forgot my digital cam, but snapped a pic with my cell phone

Next time they're in town I will definetly go see them again. Utterly awesome.
