I'm not sure that I'm going to like working at this branch... it's just so different to what I loved about Sargent & Sherbrook. That branch was crazy hectic, and filled with other young people I worked with. This new branch is really slow, and filled with old, career bankers. Oh well. I'm not going to read too much into it yet, since I have to give it a chance.

While waiting for he bus to come home I took some pictures.

This is the bus stop just outside the branch. The street beside it is called Bank st.

This is my campaign picture.

So my weekend was all right. It was somewhat uneventful. My roommate was gone to Grand Forks or something, so I just mostly chilled out and made the most of my last few days of doing nothing. Saturday I visited Nadine and her friends at the Die Maschine for a few drinks. Sunday I met my mom for lunch at McNally Robinson, and then took advantage of her van to do some grocery shopping.

Tonight I bbqued me some pickerel, and some asparagus. It was quite tasty.

Anyways, short post for today I suppose.

I was eating out of a bag of Doritos Sweet Chili Heat nachos, and noticed something. Changing the creases and angle of attack on a picture on a chip bag can result in fun:

So today I went with a friend to see a matinee showing of X-Men: The Last Stand. I won't write much about it, because I detest movie reviews, but in retrospect I was dissapointed. I also don't want to give too much away about the movie, because there are some surprises when it comes to some of the main characters. Oh Brent Singer... please come back for X-Men 4!

While at the mall after the movie, I stopped off at McNally Robinson (since I can not resist visiting there each time I'm in the area). I picked up a 'bargain book' apparently about some guy who avoids his moment of death, and the things he does after that. I also picked up the second compilation of the Y: The Last Man comics. I love them, but I'd like to find them used, since each compilation is like, $20.

Yesterday I had to take a trip to my old branch to turn in my keys. On the way home I stopped off at the mall downtown to visit someone that will be using my extra Bright Eyes ticket for the concert on the 10th. I also made a point of stopping in at the dollar store to buy a water gun. Tigress has taken to meowing at the door to go outside, and I figured a water gun would be a ood way to get her to shut up. So far so good (it's a lot of fun).

She's also been going for walks with Jennie, and I convinced her to put the cat on a tree. Humour ensued.

I'm certainly not going to make a habit out of this, but you really should take a minute to watch this video. It's spine-chilling. Be sure to turn it up.

So as some of you know, I've been off from work this week. I didn't go anywhere, despite at least one invite, since I really don't have any money for it. I just got my property tax bill today. Take my advice, don't buy a house when you're still not really ready to settle down. Learn from my mistake.

I haven't done much, I did get a lot of reading done on the sundeck thing some days this week. I still have to get around to going for a haircut, and taking a trip up to my old branch to drop off the keys. Other than that, I don't really have much to do. Oh, well I guess the kitchen could use some cleaning.

I can get new eye glasses (read: frames) either next month, or the month after. I'm quite excited about that. I like the ones I have now, but I'm always excited about new things.

It's been awful and hot and muggy here the past few days, I hope this doesn't last. The weatherman promised a thuderstorm tonight, but it really doesn't look like we'll get it... sigh. A guy can dream.

edited due to the obvious confusion, as per Christielli's comment.

my arms retreat. i wish they were there to hold you

Once again it seems I've let my blogging updates lapse.
So now I'm 25. 24 was a pretty good age, we'll see what this next age brings.
Not much to write about this weekend, it's been sorta slow. Yesterday was the family birthday thing, where I received some gifts and assembled a bbq. Then enjoyed the fruits of my labour by eating some tasty bbq salmon. The man in the foreground is my dad, not me. I'm hiding behind the partly-assembled contraption.
Saturday night I headed over to Nadine's place, where upon I was presented with her birthday gift for me, this very neat looking book that I had noticed at McNally Robinson some days earlier. Hooray for observant friends!
Yay Edmonton! They won both games in California, and head back to the Rexall Place in Edmonton (I wonder if there's a pharmacy in the arena) for their next two games. The Ducks have an utterly horrible record in Edmonton, something along the lines of 19 losses inthe last 20 games played there. I won't mention the word (#2) for fear of a jinx.

As a sidebar, I'm very happy with these Energizer rechargable batteries I purchased some months back for my digital camera. Buying and using those super-expensive lithium batteries was silly. Though they did last longer than these rechargable ones on a single charge, so if I were going to be away from an outlet I'd use those.

Just a brief post tonight.

Yay Oilers! They pulled it out and eliminated the Sharks from the race. Next up, the Ducks. That should be a great series... I'm a bit concerned for the Oilers, the Ducks have had an excellent run so far, and have enjoyed a lengthy break. Is that a good thing? Usually it's yes and no.

It's been decided where I'm heading off to, the St. Anne's & Avondale branch. It's a small branch with just 2 of us FSRs, so I'm pretty happy. The location isn't exactly ideal, but I'll take it. I'm just happy to have some closure to this whole stupid situation.

I'm sure I mentioned that my roommate returned from her 'working vacation' in Banff several months early. If not, well she did. Now, her brand-new boyfriend 'Ryan' (real name used to not-preserve his identity, but I don't know his last name) has been over here every single night since she's returned, last Friday. It's quite tiresome.

I'd just like to take this moment to thank all my commentors. Your comments are always read and much appreciated, if not always aknowledged!

Saturday, May 13, 2006

So I had an interview today by two managers at a branch I don't really want to go to. I'll write more about that later.

After work, in the early evening I was bored and my friends were off doing other things, or otherwise indesposed. I decided to go see a movie, and I had seen The Promise playing at the Globe theatres downtown, so I went to see it. Click on that link for the IMDB page, which will give you among other things, a synopsis.
It's a Chinese movie, and was essentially the story of a slave's redemption. Excellent battle scenes and effects. I believe that some of the people in the battle scenes were actually killed, and since it's a Chinese film, who's going to argue? lol
Then after returning, I was bored so chatted up another friend and we went to see the midnight showing of Date Movie, at the cheap seats. It was an enjoyable time, though the movie ended up being quite short.

Now time for sleep, because tomorrow brings gardening!

In lieu of an actual blog post, I'll put up some pictures. The top one is my street, the bottom one is the front of my house. I know the front steps are crooked. My plan is to tilt the siding so that it's all lined up with the steps. You'll see.

The lyric up there is from a Snow Patrol song, from the new album Eyes Open. I HIGHLY recommend that everyone check it out, it's full of excellent songs. It's one of two full albums I've downloaded recently that I can say I love every song on. The other is the newest Panic! At the Disco. Check it out as well. They're quit different stylistically, but both very good.

In other news, I recently secured tickets for two concerts coming up this summer. First, Bright Eyes is visiting in June. Then, in July, Dashboard Confessional with City and Colour. I'm excited about that show since I missed City and Colour when he was here earlier this year.

While waiting for the bus tonight infront of a computer parts store, I noticed that there was a little cat inside!

Then, while on the bus I heard two girls talking infront of me and an excellent quote:

"I love him like I love heroin. I won't do it again."

Poor Calgary, no Battle of Alberta this year! Oh well.
