Interlude

I just heard McCain say "might makes right" and "Peace over war" in the same diatribe.

Day The Second.

So yeah, the strips still have that weird taste, but I'm getting better at sticking them and making them stay on my teeth. Now my only problem is, upon removal of the strips there remains a gel on my teeth. Now, the instructions on the box say to "Avoid direct contact of gel with gums and/or salivary flow". It goes on to say "Do not swallow the plastic strip or the gel". Furthur study into the directions uncovers no advice given as to what to do with the gel that remains on your teeth. So, I've taken to wiping it off with a serviette.
One other problem is that the bottom strip has a way of pulling itself back over the teeth and onto the bit of mouth under my tongue, leaving the bottom of the teeth bare. This is a bit annoying, but not unrecoverable.
Anyways, I'm watching bits of the RNC on CNN right now, and I have to change the channel due to stupidity overload.
Check in tomorrow for the excitement that will be Day 3!

Stripping, a study

Monday, August 30, 2004

Today marks the first day of my experiment with Crest White Strips Premium. Obviously the starting picture is below.
I must say, they're a bit trick to work with. Course, all the saliva in my mouth doesn't help the situation, but that's an autonomic response to stuff being in your mouth. They don't taste bad or anything, which is good I suppose. However they don't really stick all that well to the teeth. Strangely enough one is not supposed to brush right before using the strips.
My odyssey continues.

Day one, no strips used. Note, my teeth are not anywhere near to being THAT yellow. The lighting's bad. Hey, you try taking a picture of your teeth.

This week, I'll strip

Saturday, August 28, 2004

Today I purchased a teeth-kit thing which included a box of Crest Whitestrips Premium. Ergo, over the next 7 or 8 days I shall be keeping you, my valued reader(s) up to date with the progress of my teeth. It should be noted that I also will be brushing 2x a day with Crest Vivid White toothpaste. How fun it will be to follow the progress! Now, to find a way to take a decent picture of my teeth....

Pow-Pow-Powell

So's I just read that Colin decided not to go to greece after all. Apparently, according to the White House he's not able to go due to "the press of business in Washington." Isn't that funny? Who would schedule a trip for someone (who certainly must have his schedule worked out weeks if not months in advance) if it was clear that his absence for one night could not be tolerated due to all the business he needs to attend.
I was watching The Daily Show earlier tonight as well, Bill Clinton was a guest. I am SO fucking happy that I don't live in the states (as if I need another reason). If I had to deal with an election campaign that ran for OVER ONE WHOLE YEAR I think I'd go insane. Especially if it was a shit-filled as this year's US election. A buncha fucking 'swift boat veterans' talking shit about serving with Kerry, when in fact none of them served with him. Clinton and Stewart (John) also pointed out that the SAME group of 'men' spoke out against (perhaps the only sane US politician) John McCain. Alleging that he apparently gave up some information or something against the US while he was a POW for all those years. What a bunch of fucking whiners.

In other news, here's a humourous story that I noticed on cnn.com today:

MIAMI, Florida (AP) -- Small toys showing an airplane flying into the World
Trade Center were packed inside more than 14,000 bags of candy and sent to small groceries around the country before being recalled.
Lisy Corp., the wholesaler that distributed the candy, said Friday that the toys were purchased
in bulk from a Miami-based import company. The toys came in an assortment purchased sight unseen from L&M Import in Miami and included the toys depicting the attacks on the World Trade Center of September 11, 2001, along with whistles and other small toys, said Luis Pedron, Lisy's national sales manager. The invoice described the toy as a plastic swing set.

That crazy shrub

Here's an interesting quote I read in McLeans from our favourite non-bush Bush:

"Our enemies are innovative and resourceful, and so are we. They never stop thinking about new ways to harm our country and our people, and neither do we."

Well said old bean.

Post 101

Wednesday, August 11, 2004

Not much new to post, haven't had the chance to do anything. But, next weekend should come with some pictures of some Folklorama pavillions.
In the meantime:

MANILA, Philippines (AP) -- Four members of a family have been arrested and
charged with murder for allegedly killing and eating a relative during a wedding
reception -- and serving his flesh to unwitting party guests, police have said.
At the July 17 wedding of his daughter, Eladio Baule got angry with his
cousin Benjie Ganay who tripped and accidentally touched the bride's bottom,
said Senior Police Inspector Perla Bacuel, at Narra town in Palawan province,
southwest of Manila.
A few hours later, Baule, his son Gerald, another cousin Junnie Buyot and a nephew, Sabtuari Pique, allegedly confronted Ganay, then drove him to a secluded place where they stabbed him to death, Bacuel said. Buyot, who surrendered to police and is acting as a witness, told police
they then roasted Ganay's body using coconut leaves and kerosene, Bacuel said.
and

ATHENS, Greece (AP) -- If you're going to the Olympics, you'd better be careful
what you say and do in public.
Software will be watching and listening.
Recent leaps in technology have paired highly sophisticated software with
street surveillance cameras to create digital security guards with
intelligence-gathering skills.
"It is a very vast network and it is the first time it is being done on such a scale at an international level," Greek police spokesman Col. Lefteris Ikonomou told The Associated Press.
It gathers images and audio from an electronic web of over 1,000 high-resolution
and infrared cameras, 12 patrol boats, 4,000 vehicles, nine helicopters, a
sensor-laden blimp and four mobile command centers.
Spoken words collected by the cameras with speech-recognition software are transcribed into text that is then searched for patterns along with other electronic communications
entering and leaving the area -- including e-mail and image files.

So she did end up leaving, and took many pictures with my camera.
There's really nothing other to update, other than Amish in the City is a funny show.

So I got home from work today to find Jennie home. As I type this, she's still on the phone fighting with Todd. So here again is another example of her saying that she's going to do something, and not following through. I must say, I'm not terribly surprised at this turn of events. A bit dissapointed yes. I was looking forward to time spent lounging in my boxers playing Tales of Symphonia. Alas, that shall not come to pass this week.
God damn it. Good thing I didn't have some hot sex action planned for the next few days, as Jennie's once again decided to stay home instead. But, I'm used to it.
That's life. Well, part of this life anyways.

So, I just caught a piece on the Daily Show. A montage of Bush from 5 speaches last week, where twenty-three (23) times he said 'turned the corner'. How can a man with genius speech-writers like that not win?
So, my second monitor is my iTunes monitor, that's its primary use. Last night however, it came in handy so I could watch The Last Samurai full-screen on the large monitor, and chat up on the smaller one.
This guy being interviewed on the Daily Show just used the phrase 'fagifize' and now 'entenuendos', in an apparent attempt to say 'etendres' and 'innuendo', or some combination of the two. What a moron.
So this is just a half-assed attempt at keeping my blog seemingly up-to-date.
Jennie's now gone for 3 days. I shall be bored, and spend lots of money.
Oh, and I broke and bought Tales of Symphonia today.
