HUGE news announced on cbc.ca today...

There's probably no other country on earth that loves the world junior hockey championship more than Canada. Now, it will get a chance to show that support every three years. In an unprecedented deal announced by the International Hockey Federation, Canada will play host to the tournament every three years.

Hockey Canada president Bob Nicholson officially approached the IIHF congress with the proposal this week and the deal was approved on Saturday, giving it the right to host the 2009 and 2012 world juniors.

How awesome is that?! We Canadians have always known the World Juniors belong here, where the tournament sells out a year before it even begins (Hi Vancouver). I sincerely hope it returns to Winnipeg soon enough, because Canada may be home to the World Juniors, but Winnipeg is its living room.... that's right, think about it.
