You'll all notice the little Flickr thing over there on the right. I've finally got around to setting up a Flickr account and will soon be uploading most of the pictures I have on my computers. It'll also autoupdate with cellphone uploads, and apparently it'll post them to my blog here too.
That is all.

twenty easy steps

Thursday, January 26, 2006

Okay, I'm going to try for 20 random facts. Wish me luck.

20. I think it's sexy when girls swear. Not whore-ish stuff mind you.

19. I actually enjoy riding public transit.

18. My first kiss happened while watching The Empire Strikes Back on VHS.

17. I think that whole new 'skinny suit' style is hot, and wish I could pull it off, or at least fit into one.

16. I'm not a fan of dealing with the public, yet that's what my job is all about.

15. I have a katana-type sword I bought from a shop in Ottawa that smelled VERY strongly of jasmine.

14. I'll do almost anything I can to get out of doing dishes, even when I'm the one that suffers in the end.

13. I'm somewhat of a loner, and am perfectly fine with that.

12. I'm going to see Stars (which I am in love with) on Feb. 1st.

11. I wasn't a coffee drinker until I started my current job, which requires me to be up at the ungodly hour of 7:30am. Now I love it.

10. My favourite movie is Lost in Translation.

09. I actually enjoy going shopping

08. I'm sad that The Bay might end up owned by an american man, but secretly hold out hope that the shareholders won't sell their shares.

07. Every morning my alarm goes off at 7:15am, I wake up and set my cell phone alarm to 7:55 and go back to sleep. I won't change my alarm to 7:55 because I love being able to go back to sleep after it goes off.

06. I refuse to have my wisdom teeth removed.

05. I'm a big fan of mostly all things CBC.

04. I'm quite shy at first.

03. Text messaging me is the best way to get ahold of me.

02. I don't like answering my phone at work, so I usually hit call forward and send it to my voicemail.

01. This list took me over 45 minutes.

So the Conservatives won a slim minority government. Stephen Harper is our new Prime Minister. Oh man.

This is the Eaton's warehouse building, located directly behind the new MTS Centre. There was a big row when they demolished the Eaton's building to build the arena, because it was the oldest and best example of a style of Chicago building architecture. My question was always that the warehouse building is the exact same style as the actual store building.

addendum

Further to my yesterday post, today I got home from work to find the mailbox stuffed with fliers from the NDP, Liberals, and Conservatives.
I think their logo's ugly and old looking. It looks like it was designed by a non-graphic artist.

The batteries in my digital cam died after work today when I was trying to take a picture of the full moon. So no more pictures until I replace them.

little caesar's genius?

Thursday, January 12, 2006

On the bus ride to work today I saw something that made me feel almost pathos. I say almost, because the pity wasn't really sympathetic, it was more pathetic pity. At a busy intersection in my riding was the Liberal candidate Anita Neville and what I can only assume were her family members waving and holding up Liberal signs.
I could only see it as a sign that perhaps her local polling isn't going as planned. I can't say I'm really surprised, I haven't seen her doing ANYTHING, or anywhere. Granted, the same could be said for any of my local candidates, which I'm a bit dissapointed with. But, more to the point, Anita is the incumbent and the candidate for a federally embattled party, and I don't think she can afford to not be all over the place if she'd like to keep her riding. I haven't even received anything in the mail from her. The only parties I've got mailings from have been the Conservatives (which have been summarily recycled), and the Progressive Canadian party.
That's all for now.

Tuesday, January 10, 2006

So I've fallen a bit behind on my 'picture-a-day' idea. Well it's tough when I only see the same places (read:bus stops) each day, and when I'm going to and from work it's dusky, so it's tough to take a good outdoor picture. Maybe I'll take a picture of my Stars tickets ;)

Today was my first Film Studies II class. Back when I actually was a student I was enrolled in Film Studies I and II. I got an A in I, and an F in II, so I figured I'd give it a go again. But that's not the point, the point is, there's apparently a deaf student in my class. There were two signers who traded off signing the professor's lecture. When it came to the movie, they shone a light on them and the did the same thing for the entire movie.
I couldn't help but wonder the entire time.... why not turn on the captions? I guess the deaf girl is illiterate too?

I discovered a song on my iPod that I've been listening to repeatedly tonight, it's called Something Pretty by Patrick Park. Check it out.

So now I sit in bed watching The Daily Show and composing a half-assed blog post. I'm gonna close the laptop and try to get some sleep.

Today's picture is of a sticker that's on a door by the place I catch my second bus downtown. I forgot to change the focal length, so if you click on the picture to enlarge it it'll be quite blurry I believe.
That is all.
Well, not quite all. For the second consecutive year, our Canadian junior boys have once again come out of the tournament with a kickass gold medal after thrashing the Russians 5-0. This after entering the tournament as underdogs. Brent Sutter is 12-0 as a coach in the tournament, and the Canadians have gone undefeated for the last 2 tournaments. Way to go boys!

I forgot to say yesterday that my phone started working and sending picture messages again. I wish it had worked the other day, there was a Native sleeping sprawled all out in the bus shelter at Confusion Corner. It would have made a very 'Winnipeg' picture.
Today after work I bussed to the Old Market Square and headed into Into the Music to buy tickets to the Stars concert in Feb. I'm SO looking forward to the concert!
The picture for today is one that I took on my way home from work while crossing Portage Ave. to switch buses. It's a bit of the Portage Ave Christmas decorations, and the Bay downtown in the background, one of my favourite stores. As always, click the picture to enlarge.

Today on the bus ride home a guy walked past me down the aisle and had a patch on his bag that said in big block letters 'FUCK WAR'. I must admit, it got me a bit excited thinking about that kind of war.

I've decided that I'm going to carry my digital camera with me on my various escapades (read: riding the bus to and from work) and take a picture of something each day to upload to my blog. At least things might be more interesting around here.
I didn't have my cam with me today or yesterday, but the other night I took a picture while walking down Osborne.

I've decided to make a resolution for 2006:
I'm no longer going to judge people, I'm just going to openly hate them.

I really think that's a resolution I'll be able to keep.

In other news, I tried yesterday to upload some pictures from my camera phone, it looked like it was sending them, then it stopped, and shut itself off. So this evening I'm headed to my local MTS Connect store to either have it fixed or replaced. Here's hoping they can fix it and I don't have to lose all the stuff I've put on it.

In still other news, I really don't know what to do with the free time that I have now... I'm bored.

In yet still other other news, December was the 2nd anniversary of my blog. Wow, 2 years and nothing to show for it.
