As Christielli's doing, I too am watching the Grammys. And man they suck, the state of 'popular' music is so sad. Fall Out Boy nominated for Best New Artist? Last I checked they weren't new. Anyways I'm sooo excited about some new changes coming down the pipe for Winnipeg Transit. According to the newest budget, we're getting some huge improvements, such as:

-20 new diesel-hybrid bendy-buses for some of the busiest routes
-real-time bus schedules will be available through on-street electronic displays, wireless devices, Telebus and the Winnipeg Transit website
-140 more new, normal buses
-renovations to 160 bus stops, including heaters
-additional diamond lanes, queue-jumpers and transit priority signals will speed buses along major routes
-an automated fare collection system, including new fare boxes, automated transfer dispensers, off-board ticket machines, and smart cards which will replace antiquated equipment

Since I regularly take some of the major routes to work and back, I'm looking forward very much to these improvements, especially the schedule available on the on-street displays, but even more so on my cell phone web browser

I realise it's been some time since I posted anything, and 8 comments on my last post is a record! Even though 2 of them were from me. Work's been crazy busy since it's RSP season so my days are usually booked solid with appointments.

We got a new tv channel this week, OMNI.11. It sucks.

Here's a deep Grammy question - what's the difference between "Song of the Year" (won by U2) and "Record of the Year" (won by Green Day)??? They are both songs, not albums, so I was muchly confused!

Ahhh... transit improvements... nice. All they do in Toronto is raise fairs so they can keep everything the same and not improve anything.

We have two OMNI channels in Toronto. They're okay for lots of reruns and watching news in other languages. Oh and they show soccer too. But overall, they have mostly crap.

M@ - Congrats on the 8 comments! You're a star! :) Sounds like your transit system is sweet-ass! Montreal hopes to get the hybrids in 2007...the reason being their Quebec-based bus supply company doesn't make them yet, and if they get them in QC, they get gov't grants. Those mofos are expensive...around 800-grand each. Ouch...a large price for eco-friendly transportation.

Chris - I'll repost what I explained on Scott's blog...

Album of the year is the entire CD winning - and is awarded to the band, producers, mixers, etc.

Record of the year is the single winning - and is awarded to the entire band, producers, mixers etc.

Song of the year is the single winning - and is awarded to the songwriter. As opposed to every aspect of the song being considered, this one goes for composition.

The random trivia I have in my head.... :)

Dude, the whole Omni company just sucks! In Toronto we get another 25 cent fair increase and no new services at all.

Winnipeg finally moving up with transit system. All these things that where getting in place now was already available in UK when I used the transit they're. They have trains, superior to us. Wish we had trains.
