Just a short update, CBC posted a story online about Canada as an 'Olympic powerhouse', and noted what it would have taken for Canada to actually reach it's aggressive 25 medal goal. Including:
- Short-track speed skater Eric Bedard not been denied by 4-1,000ths of a second in the men's 500.
- Skier Kelly VanderBeek not finished 3-100ths behind the bronze medallist in the women's super-G.
- Francois Bourque not missed the podium by 76-100ths in the men's giant slalom.
- Pierre Lueders not lost out on a medal by 9-100ths of a second in four-man bobsleigh.
- Canada's men's hockey team won even a bronze medal
EDIT: 14 4th place finishes, and 42 top 10 finishes. The best thing about that is the vast vast majority of those top finishes are young folks, and will be back with a vengeance for Vancouver.
I think it's been such an awesome Olympics. If only there was a medal for fourth, we would have totally surpassed 25... lol. I read an article in the Sunday Star that if one is the lonliest number, then fourth must be the most Canadianest number.
Ahh, the closing ceremonies are on now and I'm actually going to veg here and watch 'em!
We kicked ass! I've very proud of our atheletes...execpt the men's hockey team. They should live in shame. Boo. And boo to clowns in the closing ceremonies! They're scary! :)
Got to be proud of all of our athletes. So proud of them all especially our women who kicked ass. Can't wait for Vancouver.
